Before the discovery of neutron by Chawick, Thomson discovered the atom and in later researches he also discovered the electron as negatively charged particle residing outside the nucleus of any atom but he could not find neutron by then.
Later on with the discovery of isotopes, Chadwick also proposed the discovery of neutron and he explained that isotopes of same element consists of same electron and proton number but have varying neutron number.
