They are culturally and ethnically distinct from one another having different histories due to living in different geographic areas and countries. On a more general note, aboriginal people include all indigenous peoples be they Australian Aborigines, New Zealand Maoris or Canada's many First Nations such as the Cree, the Haida etc.
