Aborigines are normally thought of as indigenous people from Australia whereas the Maoris are from New Zealand. They are culturally and ethnically distinct from one another having different histories due to living in different geographic areas and countries. On a more general note, aboriginal people include all indigenous peoples be they Australian Aborigines, New Zealand Maoris or Canada's many First Nations such as the Cree, the Haida etc.
