The point of a paragraph is usually stated in one or two
sentences at the beginning of a sentence.
These one or two sentences will be known as the topic sentences. The remainder of the paragraph will be
sentences that support the topic. It’s
important to note that all sentences within a paragraph absolutely need to
develop or support the idea/topic; otherwise, the sentence will be considered
off topic. Additionally, the paragraph
(even though it may have two topic sentences) should only be about one
thing. Never try to cover too much in a
paragraph because this will inevitably lead to underdeveloped ideas—too vague. Remember:
one idea = one paragraph.
