The US and Canada governments are very similar, including:
-They are both democratic, federal states


Differences:
- The US constitution is of a single written document, while Canada's constitution is made of both written and unwritten elements.
- The US has one basic language (english), while Canada has two (English and French)
- The US is technically a republic, while Canada is a constitutional monarchy
-Prime minister and MPs have no fixed term, but an election must be held at least once every 5 years
- The US president and members of both houses have fixed terms.
