I think lines 30 to 40 from Canto IV of Dante Alighieri's Inferno would be the best lines that reflect Dante's message that ''it's better to live a christian life than to suffer in hell for eternity''. This is because in these lines those who are in the first circle were not able to be baptized and encounter Christ in their life, thus, the reason why they were put in hell.
