Which two words in this excerpt from Homer's Odyssey have meanings similar to "punishing someone who hurt you"? I then: 'O nymph

propitious to my prayer, Goddess divine, my guardian power, declare, Is the foul fiend from human vengeance freed? Or, if I rise in arms, can Scylla bleed?' Then she: 'O worn by toils, O broke in fight, Still are new toils and war thy dire delight? Will martial flames for ever fire thy mind, And never, never be to Heaven resign'd? How vain thy efforts to avenge the wrong! Deathless the pest! impenetrably strong! Furious and fell, tremendous to behold!

The two words that mean "punishing someone who hurt you" are Vengeance and avenge. The world Vengeance comes from the latin word vindicare which means to inflict punhishment for a past injury. The world avenge has origins in old french evolving from the latin vindicare which means to inflict harm in return. Both of this worlds mean to return harm or punish those who wrong/harmed you.

In the second paragraph of "ain't I a woman?" how does truth appeal to listeners sense of logic
nikitadnepr [17]

In her speech "Ain't I a woman?" Sojourner Truth appeals to the listeners sense of logic. In the second paragraph, she discusses the ideas men have about women. She tells us that men often argue that women need to be helped over ditches, protected, and given the best of everything. However, she questions the validity of this argument by saying that no one ever helped her or gave her the best of everything, even though she is a women. What she wants people to realize is that this argument is only presented as an excuse to avoid giving women the rights they desire and deserve.
