Sigmund Freud affected the lives of ordinary people in the 20th century by encouraging people to search for the hidden reasons for their actions. This was accomplished by the creation of Psychoanalysis, a psychological method of analysis where it is believed that we all have repressed emotions and desires that stem from our childhood and that we need to look to the unconscious mind for the answers to our problems and why we behave and think the way we do.
