Sale price of a new refrigerator is $262.5 and Sale price of new range of top = $225 when purchased together.

<h3><u><em>Solution: </em></u></h3>

Given that

Mackenzie purchased a new refrigerator for $350

Mackenzie purchased a new range of top for $300

The store was offering a deal of 25% if both were purchased at the same time.

Need to determine sale price of these two items

Assuming that these two items are purchased at the same time , there will be 25% deal

So sale piece of a new refrigerator of $350 = $350 – 25% of $350 = 350 – 0.25 x 350 = 350 – 87.5 = $262.5

And Sale price of new range of top = $300 = $300 – 25% of $300 = 300 – 0.25 x 300 = 300 – 75 = $225

Hence sale price of  a new refrigerator is $262.5 and Sale price of new range of top = $225 when purchased together.

A local gym had 490 members last quarter. This quarter, with a change in its rates, it has 686 members. What is the percent of i
sergij07 [2.7K]

Given:

Number of gym members in last quarter = 490

Number of gym members in this quarter = 686

To find:

The percent of increase in the number of members.

Solution:

We have,

Number of gym members in last quarter = 490

Number of gym members in this quarter = 686

Now, the percent of increase in the number of members.

\%\text{ of increase}=\dfrac{{Members in this month - Members in last month}}{\text{Members in last month}}\times 100

\%\text{ of increase}=\dfrac{686-490}{490}\times 100

\%\text{ of increase}=\dfrac{196}{490}\times 100

\%\text{ of increase}=\dfrac{2}{5}\times 100

\%\text{ of increase}=2\times 20

\%\text{ of increase}=40

Therefore, the gym members increased by 40%.

Emilio bought an ant farm that had 15 ants in it already. He read somewhere that
Nina [5.8K]

The number of ants in his farm after 12 weeks is 218.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

It is given that there are 15 ants initially and the ant population increases by 25% each week.

This is an exponential rate of increase that can be modeled by the following equation:

Number of ants after n weeks = Initial number of ants * (1 + rate of increase) ^{n}

Step 2:

Rate of increase = 25% = 25 / 100 = 0.25

Number of weeks = 12

Number of ants  after 12 weeks = 15* (1 + 0.25 )^{12} = 218.27 (rounded off to 218)

Step 3:

Answer:

The number of ants in his farm after 12 weeks is 218.
