Active and passive transport are both means through which substances move in and out of cells.
The primary difference is that active transport requires energy for it to occur (hence the name "active"). The energy is required because substances are being moved against the concentration gradient, from lower concentration to higher concentration.

In passive transport, movement is down the concentration gradient, so it does not require energy.

Answer:

  1. The two lines on the outside of the chloroplast indicate a double membrane: True
  2. The Golgi apparatus is not shown in this cell but this does not mean that this organelle does not occur in the cell: True
  3. The relative dimensions and placement of the membranes and organelles in this model are exact representations of those structures in a living cell: False
  4. The large structure in the center is a nucleus: False
  5. This cell is capable of photosynthesis: True

Explanation:

  1. Chloroplast, like mitochondra, have double membrane called the chloroplast envelope. Hence the first statement is true.
  2. Golgi apparatus is found in all plant and animal cell. It is usually located close to endoplasmic reticulum. Hence this statement is true.
  3. The relative dimensions and placement of the membranes and organelles in this model are not an exact representation of those structures found in living cell. Hence its a false statement.
  4. The large structure in the centre is vacuole and not nucleus. Hence its a false statement.
  5. Since its a plant cell so it is capable of photosynthesis. Hence its a true statement
