Andrew Jackson was the President of the United States from 1829 until 1837, this period of time is also known as The Jackson and it's important because there were many social and scientific changes that last until the gilded age (the last 1800s). The main reformers were: (1) Elizabeth Cady Stanton, seen as one of the first activists for women's rights, (2) Darwin, famous for his evolution theory that changed the way people saw and understood the world, and (3) Oliver Wendell Holmes, a medical scholar who admitted women and black men in medical school, in order to promote equality and fairness.
