In literature including short stories, the characters are the people that are part of the story and main action in it. In the case of realistic and compelling characters these are characters that despite being fictional resemble real people and therefore have certain features of real people, this includes that they have multiple personality traits, feelings, thoughts, etc. which makes them round characters, and also they change and evolved due to circumstances and therefore are classified as dynamic characters. Thus, realistic and compelling characters are often round because they are complex and dynamic people they evolve just as real people.
