In the arts, Realism is the accurate, unembellished and detailed depiction of contemporary life or nature. In literature, for example, this movement extended from mid-nineteenth century to the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Within this period, authors chose to describe everyday activities and experiences withour using romanticized style.
Therefore, we may say that some charateristics of realism are: <em>accuracy, genuinenesss, sincerity and no embellishment or romanticized style. </em>
“Verisimilitude is a literary term describing the surface quality of realistic literature: -"the appearance of being true or real; likeness or resemblance to truth, reality, or fact; probability." Realistic style may be marked by the prominence of particular tropes or figures of speech
The European Union is set up with the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. As of 1950, the European Coal and Steel Community begins to unite European countries economically and politically in order to secure lasting peace.
