An experimenter would like to construct a 99% two-sided t-interval, with a length at almost 0.2 ohms, for the average resistance

of a segment of copper cable of a certain length. If the experimenter feels that the standard deviation of such resistances is no larger than 0.15 ohms, what sample size would you recommend? Assume that an appropriate t-value is 3.0.A. Aprox 10B. Aprox 20C. Aprox 30D. Aprox 40E. Aprox 50

Answer:

Aprox 20

Step-by-step explanation:

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

\bar X represent the sample mean for the sample

\mu population mean

s represent the sample standard deviation

n represent the sample size (variable of interest)

Confidence =99% or 0.99

The margin of error is given by this formula:

ME=t_{\alpha/2}\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}    (1)

And on this case we have that ME =0.2/2=0.1 ohms, since the lenght of the confidence interval is L=2ME and we are interested in order to find the value of n, if we solve n from equation (4) we got:

n=(\frac{t_{\alpha/2} s}{ME})^2   (2)

The critical value for 99% of confidence interval is provided, t_{\alpha/2}=3.0, replacing into formula (2) we got:

n=(\frac{3.0(0.15)}{0.1})^2 =20.25 \approx 21

So the answer for this case would be n=21 rounded up to the nearest integer

And with the options provided the best answer is:

Aprox 20

The equivalent expression of 25 - 64 are "a), b) and c)"

The given expression is:

25 - 64

To find, the equivalent expressions are:

a) 25 + 40x - 40x - 64

=  25 - 64, is the equivalent expression.

b) 25 + 13x - 13x - 64

=  25 - 64, is the equivalent expression.

c) (5 + 8)(5 - 8)

Using the algebraic identity,

(a + b)(a - b) =

=

=  25 - 64, is the equivalent expression.

d) ( + 13)( - 13)

Using the algebraic identity,

(a + b)(a - b) =

=

=   - 169, is not a equivalent expression.

e)

Using the algebraic identity,

,  is not a equivalent expression.

∴ The equivalent expression of 25 - 64 are "a), b) and c)".

It can't be a noun because it is illogical.

It does not modify the noun either.

It does not modify verb, adjective, or any other adverbs.

So in this case, it is a verb

Michael can spend a maximum of $234 on office supplies. Each ream of paper costs $6. Each ink cartridge costs $18. Which of the
Mashutka [201]
There is no graph in your question. If p is number of reams of paper, and c is number of ink cartridges, then

3p + c = 234, wich p and c natural numbers (including 0)

This means that 13 ink cartridges and 0 paper will satisfy the end amount, but also 0 ink cartridges and 39 paper. There are 14 combinations possible.

3. What are the roots of the polynomial y = x³ - 8?
zzz [600]

Step-by-step explanation:

x^3 is a perfect cube, 8 is a perfect cube, so we use difference of cubes.

{a}^{3}  -  {b}^{3}  = (a - b)( {a}^{2}  + ab +  {b}^{2} )

Cube root of x^3 is x.

Cube root of 8 is 2

So

a=x

b= 2.

(x - 2)( {x}^{2}  - 2x + 4)

Set these equations equal to zero

x - 2 = 0

x = 2

{x}^{2}  - 2x + 4 = 0

If we do the discriminant, we get a negative answer so we would have two imaginary solutions,

Thus the only real root is 2.

If you want imaginary solutions, apply the quadratic formula.

1 + i  \sqrt{ 3 }

and

1 - i \sqrt{3}
