Answer:

What is the Socratic method?

The Socratic method is simply a way or method of making an argument or debate between different people, where questions are asked to stimulate critical thinking, make premises, and conclusions. It is based on logic.

The origin of the Socratic method

It is named after the great philosopher Socrates who answered questions by asking more questions because he believed by using this method, he would find irregularities in the thoughts of his students and then guide them to a solid conclusion.

How does it differ from the scientific method?

The Socratic method is different from the scientific method in some key ways:

  • Socratic method is based on logic, while the scientific method is based on scientific evidence, i.e it is empirical.
  • The Socratic method tries to win an argument or stimulate critical thinking, while the scientific method aims to use research to find out new data.
