Remember that an allusion is a reference to a person, place, thing, or idea. These references must cointain certain cultural significance, that will allow the audience to understand it. For example, if an author makes an allusion to a personal experience without a previous mention or explanation, the audience won't undestand him/her at all.

Here Joe refers to Jane's good aim, he calls her Catniss making reference to "The Hunger Games" main character. Remember that she is an excellent bow shooter. As you can see he is using a character that is well know by young people, comparing her aiming skills with his friend.

Why did Abigail go into the forest
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

The girls were dancing in the woods because they were participating in superstitious rituals with Parris' Barbadian slave, Tituba. In Act 1, Abigail says that, as they danced, "Tituba conjured Ruth's sisters to come out of the grave." Ruth's mother, Mrs. Ann Putnam, has lost seven babies within a day of their births, and she is convinced that witchcraft had something to do with it. She fears that her only surviving child, Ruth, is becoming ill, so she "thought to send her to [...] Tituba" because "Tituba knows how to speak to the dead [...]." Now that Ruth has been struck silent, her mother fears that some dark power has a grip on her too.

Which of the elements of poetry best contribute to the sound of the poem?
nordsb [41]

The rhythm, the rhyme, the meter and the cadence of the words used dictates the sound of the poem.

Explanation:

The rhythm of the words used depends on the stress of the syllables that are employed in the poem and give them their sound.

The cadence is similar and often relates to the theme of the poem in that a brooding poem will have harsher sounding words while a child's poem will roll off the tongue.

Rhyme is the use of similar sounding words at the end of the sentence.

Meter is the combination of number of stressed and unstressed syllables used in a poem in every line giving it its length and the structure.
