Here is a scenario where the associative property could be used.  Two friends went to a movie theater and bought a movie ticket, popcorn, and a drink.  The first friend bought their $6 ticket online and paid for the $4 drink and  $3 popcorn together at the concession stand.  The other friend bought the $6 ticket and the same size drink at the counter.  Later, they decided they wanted a $3 popcorn and went back later.

Here is the math problem showing each scenario as equal.  The associative property is being used.

$6 + ($4 + $3) = ($6 + $4) + $3

Party favors are on sale for $2.50 each. You have $380 to spend on the decorations and gifts, and you have already spent $272 on
Alenkinab [10]

Answer:

we could buy 43 party favors

Step-by-step explanation:

initially we have an amount of $380

if we already spend an amount of $272 this we have to subtract it from the total

$380 - $272 = $108

if each party favor comes out $ 2.50 and we have $ 108 we have to divide what we have by what each one comes out to know how many we can buy

$108 / $2.50 = 43.2

this means we could buy 43 party favors

If f x is a linear function, f(-1)=3, and f(1)=5, find an equation for f(x)
BartSMP [9]

The equation of f(x) is f(x) = x + 4

<h3>How to determine the equation?</h3>

The given parameters are

f(-1) = 3 and f(1) = 5

Start by calculating the slope (m) using:

m = \frac{f(1) - f(-1)}{1 - -1}

This gives

m = \frac{5 - 3}{1 + 1}

Evaluate

m = 1

The equation is then calculated as;

f(x) = m(x - x1) + f(-1)

This gives

f(x) = 1(x + 1) + 3

Expand

f(x) = x + 4

Hence, the equation of f(x) is f(x) = x + 4
