White Americans opt to expand their settlements in the western part of the country between 1850 and 1900. Thus, the life for the Native Americans who currently lived there changed drastically. American Indians were forced from their homes as their native lands through US government policies. The settler’s claims were supported by the federal government. Indians were forced to live on government-controlled reservations.
