I'd say afterward is the answer, because "in other words" doesn't mean after or then.. "All things considered" isn't really meaning after, furthermore doesn't mean after either. Then we lead to afterward, which literally has the word AFTER in it.

If an essay is order Chronologically, then it is more or less like steps. So we would want a(n) transitional phrase that sounds like it could fit into a step process. That would be "Afterward," This phrase is most likely to show up in a chronological essay than the others. If you look at the others they are all shadowing further elaboration on something.

The answer is afterward

Explain

Correct? ^

Answer:

The lesson I believe the writer is trying to convey in the The L0st Dog is fairly on the nose; 'to never lose hope on something you don't know 100%. In paragraph five and six the protagonist is seen running from a group of aforementioned men, barely escaping he end up reunited with his friend Rose, ending the story with the line "[...] Never give up hope on something you haven’t found."

Now I didn't 'explain' 'cause It'd sound redundant but if you want or need to, just add on with '...which means' or '...is/that's an example of,' et cetera.

- Something along those lines at least =)
