29. how did the us tariff policies contribute to the civil war?

History

The US government had imposed tariff policies that set a higher price on imported (foreign) manufactured goods. Because the South was an agricultural economy, it either had to ship down form the North or import from other countries most of the finished goods it consumed. Either option increased the cost of goods for Southerners over the prices paid by Northerners. Because the North was a largely industrial economy, and because raw materials imported for manufacturing were not subject to tariffs, the North faced no such burden. Additionally, because there was no income tax at this time, federal gov't revenue depended largely on tariff revenue -- which meant it was paid disproportionately by the South. This revenue was spent on railroads in the North and in other ways that unfairly benefitted the North while largely ignoring infrastructure and development in the South. South Carolina threatened secession as far back as 1828 over the unfair burden of the protective tariffs.

After the disastrous (for the Japanese) results of the Battle of Layte Gulf, the Japanese navy was destroyed. What remained as a
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is D. Kamikazes, and the Japanese army.

Explanation:

The Battle of Leyte Gulf, which took place between October 23 and 26, 1944, was a maritime battle between the United States and Japan in the framework of World War II. During this battle the navies of both nations faced each other, triumphing the American navy, which practically destroyed its adversary and neutralized the dominance of Japan in the waters of the Pacific.

Now, despite the fact that the Japanese navy no longer had effective possibilities of causing problems for the Americans, the truth is that even so an invasion by land of Japan was seen as a complicated undertaking. This because the Japanese had begun to use their famous kamikazes, pilots who crashed their planes against their targets causing high damage, as well as due to the ferocity of their combatants in the army, who fought until destruction, either their own or the enemy's, avoiding surrender.

Winner and which was the main loser in the Glorious Revolution? Use evidence from the article to back up your choice.
Bond [772]
Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

The British Parliament, the Church of England, and the Protestant Dissenters were the winners in the Glorious Revolution. The Glorious Revolution of 1688-1689 replaced the reigning king, James II, with the joint monarchy of his protestant daughter Mary and her Dutch husband, William of Orange. Although bloodshed in England was limited, the revolution was only secured in Ireland and Scotland by force and with much loss of life.
