There are many ways in which a speaker might establish credibility in the eyes of his or her audience during wartime. The best thing a speaker can do in order to appear credible is to be able to use rhetorical devices effectively. Pathos, an appeal to emotion, and logos, an appeal to logic, are both very useful strategies to employ for this purpose. However, the best strategy to use would be ethos. Ethos refers to an appeal to credibility, and it is through this device that the speaker will be able to convince the audience. The speaker should mention his accomplishments, his expertise, his experiences related to war, etc. In this way, his audience will be convinced about the credibility of the speaker.

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

A speaker most likely establishes credibility in the eyes of his or her audience during wartime by quoting respected military strategists.

Wartime is a difficult time for any country. Thousands of soldiers are sent to the war front and most of them are going to die. Governments invest a lot of money in weaponry and supplies to support the war efforts. Governments also ask for some sacrifices to their citizens during the war. That is why people do not like the war and leaders must carefully think about their words when they are addressing its citizens. One of the best ways to approach the topic of war is by quoting respected military strategists, showing statistics of the benefits of the war, and commenting on possibles consequences of not fighting the war.

How close did african americans come to gaining full civil rights during reconstruction?
faust18 [17]
Following the Civil War, the Thirteenth Amendment emancipated all US slaves regardless of where they lived in the country. However, even after the defeat of the Confederacy and the Emancipation Proclamation, the nation was unsure of providing full citizenship for the newly freed slaves. The Reconstruction aimed at reorganizing the Southern states following the Civil War and provided the means to readmit them into the Union where white and black people could co-exist in a non-slave society. African Americans took full advantage of this new change and used it as an opportunity to become literate, attend school, participate in the political process, acquire land and seek their own employment and vote.
