Last night, I was rambling along the coast of the city. The city was noiseless, everybody was sleeping. As I walked, I had a bad premonition. Suddenly, I heard a BOOOM! and the car was coming straight at me. Then, I wake up.

Explanation:

An onomatopoeia is a literaly device that makes the reader "hear" the word that he is reading. In this case, the word "BOOOM" is an onomatopoeia to make the reader imagine the sound of a crash between two cars. Although I chose this onomatopoeia, I could have chosen another one because there are a lot of them. For example: some machine noises are honk, beep, vroom, clang, zap, boing, and so on.
