Answer:

The Great Depression

Explanation:

The shrinking size of the globe, the intervention of foreign competition, the Great Depression, World Wars I and II, and the ever-increasing age of our population (among other factors) have contributed to our mixed economic system.

The economic system in the USA is rooted in the Laissez-Faire capitalism of Adam Smith. However, the real-world setting in the US is not as Laissez-Faire as Smith would have liked because the government greatly participates as more than umpire and rule maker. The government take part in American Business by way of resource or product markets, interest, and especially taxes which results in making the American business progressed into a mixed economy, showing both elements of capitalism and socialism.

Other factors such as foreign competition, the Great Depression, World Wars I and II, and the increasing age of population have also contributed to the mixed economic system.

On January 1, 2020, Mirada, Inc. issued five year bonds with a face value of $100,000 and an annual stated rate of 8%. Interest
Sergio039 [100]

Answer:

Book Value of bond = $106,931

Explanation:

Given:

Face value of bond = $100,000

Issue price = $108,425

Computation:

Interest payment = $100,000 x 8%

Interest payment = $8,000

Interest expense = $108,425 x 6%

Interest expense = $6,505.50

Amortization of premium = $8,000 - $6,505.50

Amortization of premium = $1,494.50

Book Value of bond = $108,425 - $1,494.50

Book Value of bond = $106,931

If there is an increase in market demand in a perfectly competitive market, then in the short run
katovenus [111]

Answer:

The correct answer is option d.

Explanation:

An increase in the market demand will cause the market demand curve to move to the right. This rightward shift in the demand curve will lead to an increase in the market price.

This increase in market price will cause the individual demand curves to move upwards. As the price increases, the profits earned by the firms will increase as well.

Profit to a firm is the difference between its total revenue and total cost, as the price increases, revenue will increase and cost will remain the same. This will cause profits to increase.

(a) Argue whether or not a firm should continue production if its MR is lower than its AVC. (b) Support your argument with expla
Delvig [45]

Answer: A firm should not continue production when its MR is lower than its AVC.

Explanation:

The goal of every firm is to minimize cost and also maximize profits and therefore the firm will operate at the output level where the marginal revenue and the marginal cost equates.

A firm should not continue production when its MR is lower than its AVC. Here, the firm will incur a higher loss during production as producing will not offset the variable cost. Therefore, it's better to shut down.

Which of the following factors cause a decline to both price and the quantity being sold?An increase in demand No change in dema
Rina8888 [55]

Answer:

The correct answer is: decrease in demand.

Explanation:

The equilibrium price and quantity are determined through the intersection of demand and supply curves.

An increase in demand will cause the demand curve to move to the right. This will cause both the price level as well as quantity to increase.

A decrease in supply will cause the supply curve to shift to the left. This will cause the price to increase and quantity to decline.

A decrease in the demand curve will cause the demand curve to shift to the left. This will cause the price as well as quantity to decline.
