On average, the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) have only approved a dozen compassionate release requests annually since 1992.  The BOP does not keep records of people who have requested a compassionate release. 
Compassionate release is when a prisoner asks to be released from prison mainly due to medical issues or concerns.
