A candidate is also more likely to be appealing to the public if he/she is part of a significant party instead of being part of a third party. Although the most way a candidate can gain the most visibility and support is if they are an incumbent.

For federally elected candidates, the same plans of action are devised, but on a larger scale. Talk shows, news programs, and debates promote visibility and mass appeal.
