The number is  -26

1st number (x-4) second number (x)

5(x-4) = 6x + 6

5x -20 = 6x + 6

5x -26 = 6x

-26 = x

Check:

5(-26 -4) = 6(-26) +6

5(-30) = -156 +6

-150 = -150

A school allots £3000 to spend on a trip to the theatre. Theatre tickets have a regular cost of £40 each and are on offer for 1
Bumek [7]

Answer:

£36

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we are told that School allots £3000 to spend on a trip to the theatre. With regular cost of tickets of £40 each with offer for 1/5 off

Then the cost of each ticket with 1/5 off= (4/5×40)= £32

From the question, A train ticket for the day will cost £20 each.

Then total cost for each of it = £32+£20

=£52

To determine how much money that the school will have left over, If 3 teachers and the maximum number of students attend, can be expressed below by first calculating the number of students.

Let us denote the number of students as "x"

52(x+3)= < 3000

52x + 156 =< 3000

52x =< 3000 - 156

52x =< 2844

X =< 2844/52

s =< 54.69,

The max. Number of students is 54

Total number of people= Number of students + the 3 teachers

= 54+3= 57

Total cost for 57 people= (£52 × 57 people)= £2964

The amount of money the school will have as left over = (£3000 - £2964)

= £36

Write the direct variation function given that y varies directly with x, and y = 16 when x = 4.
Otrada [13]

Answer:

Very little information is given, leaving room to multiple possible functions, however i would expect it to be y = 4x

Step-by-step explanation:

x * z = y

4 * z = 16

z = 16/4

z = 4

A certain town never has two sunny days in a row. Each day is classified as being either sunny, cloudy (but dry), or rainy. If i
11111nata11111 [884]

Answer:

the proportion of days that are Sunny is 0.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data in the question;

Using markov chain;

3 states; Sunny(1), Cloudy(2) and Rainy(3)

Now, based on given conditions, the transition matrix can be obtained in the following way;

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}0&0.5&0.5\\0.25&0.5&0.25\\0.25&0.25&0.5\end{array}\right]

so let the proportion of sunny, cloudy and rainy days be S, C and R respectively.

such that, from column 1

S = 0.25C + 0.25R   -------------let this be equation 1

from column 2

0.5C = 0.5S + 0.25R

divided through by 0.5

C = S + 0.5R ---------------------- let this be equation 2

now putting equation 2 into equation;

S = 0.25(S + 0.5R) + 0.25R

S = 0.25S + 0.125R + 0.25R

S - 0.25S = 0.375R

0.75S = 0.375R

S = 0.375R / 0.75

S = 0.5R

Therefore,

from equation 2; C = S + 0.5R

input S = 0.5R

C = 0.5R + 0.5R

C = R

Now, we know that, the sum of the three proportion should be equal to one;

so

S + C + R = 1

since C = R and S = 0.5R

we substitute

0.5R + R + R = 1

2.5R = 1

R = 1/2.5

R = 0.4

Hence, the proportion of days that are Rainy is 0.4

C = R

C = 0.4

Hence, the proportion of days that are Cloudy is 0.4

S = 0.5R

S = 0.5(0.4)

S = 0.2

Hence, the proportion of days that are Sunny is 0.2
