In America, on October 31st we celebrate a holiday called Halloween. At the same time in Spanish cultures, they are celebrating The Day of the Dead. The holidays are quite similar in more ways than just being celebrated on the same day. In both traditions people wear costumes.
The holidays also have some differences besides the name. First of all, in the Spanish culture, they believe their deceased loved ones come back to the earth for one more night on The Day of the Dead. For Americans, the holiday has become more about giving out candy to kids. Both celebrations came out of the same lore but have been interpreted differently by different people.
