The US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) hires, promotes, and pays people who work for the federal government. The OPM, which is an independent federal agency, controls that federal agencies respect civil service laws and regulations when hiring or firing federal government workers. This office is also in charged of managing federal employees' benefits programs (e.g. health insurance, healthcare, and retirement benefits). Besides, the OPM also provides resources for locating student jobs as well as scholarships.
