Read the passage. Johnny was miserable. It was Saturday afternoon, the sun was shining brightly, and he was stuck in bed with th

e flu. His throat felt like sandpaper every time he swallowed, his head felt as if someone had dropped an anvil on it, and he couldn’t stop coughing. His mother had checked his temperature earlier in the day and announced that he was too sick to get out of bed, let alone go outside to enjoy the first warm spring day along with his friends and siblings. From his room, Johnny could hear his sisters’ high-pitched squeals of delight and the ringing of their bicycle bells as they rode up and down the sidewalk. He could hear someone bouncing a basketball and the swoop of the ball as it swished through the net. He also heard his best friend, Noah, asking where Johnny was and his sisters’ reply that he couldn’t come out to play because he was sick. This was too much. Johnny pulled the soft, velvety covers over his aching head and turned to the wall in protest, realizing there was nothing he could do but wait for this virus to take its course. He swore to himself that he would be better by next Saturday and that he would be outside riding his bike and shooting baskets along with everyone else. Which phrase from this passage appeals to the sense of touch? “the sun was shining brightly” “the ringing of their bicycle bells” “the swoop of the ball as it swished through the net” “the soft, velvety covers over his aching head”

The release of "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair had what effect on the American economy?
asambeis [7]

It increased government regulation on businesses, because it exposed the meat industry and how disgusting it was. Now, meat has to be regulated by the FDA (food and drug association) before it is given to consumers to ensure that it is safe and good quality.

County road two thirty-three under my feet
Natalija [7]

Answer:

County road two thirty-three under my feet

Nothin' on this white rock but little ol' me

I've got two miles till he makes bail

And if I'm right, we're headed straight for hell

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun

Wait by the door, and light a cigarette

If he wants a fight, well, now he's got one

And he ain't seen me crazy yet

He slapped my face, and he shook me like a rag doll

Don't that sound like a real man?

I'm going to show him what little girls are made of

Gunpowder and lead

Well, it's half past ten, another six-pack in

And I can feel the rumble like the cold black wind

He pulls in the drive, the gravel flies

He don't know what's waiting here this time

Yeah, I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun

Wait by the door, and light a cigarette

If he wants a fight, well, now he's got one

And he ain't seen me crazy yet

He slapped my face, and he shook me like a rag doll

Don't that sound like a real man?

I'm going to show him what little girls are made of

Gunpowder and lead

His fist is big, but my gun's bigger

He'll find out when I pull the trigger

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun

Wait by the door, and light a cigarette

If he wants a fight, well, now he's got one

And he ain't seen me crazy yet

He slapped my face, and he shook me like a rag doll

Don't that sound like a real man?

I'm going to show him what little girls are made of

Gunpowder and, gunpowder and lead

Gunpowder and lead, hey

Is this song true about any other girls out there it sure is for me.
