If the sentence is: A school's right to search student lockers to keep things safe for the community might be a necessary thing. Then the best revision would be C. is necessary to maintain a safe environment for students. Therefore, the whole revised sentence would be like this: A school's right to search student lockers is necessary to maintain a safe environment for students. The A option is wordy, and B sounds too bureaucratic and technical.

Svetllana [295]

The settings in the book are essential for development of the characters in the novel and their relationships with each other.Tolkien writes that "the cliffs on Lonely Mountain are tall and grim, and that danger lurks in every rock". In addition to being dangerous and scary, the mountain is a fortress that looks impossible to enter. The language used in the chapter creates a sense of fear, suspense and threat as, once again, the travelers find that they have to rely on Bilbo to retrieve the Arkenstone. Just as Smaug, the dragon greedily guards his treasure, Thorin and the other dwarves reveal how greedily they want to get it. The dark winding tunnels and the Battle of Five Armies make Lonely Mountain the complete opposite of the Shire, showing to readers how much Bilbo has changed over time. This chapter shows characters in a new light.

Which of the following statements with regard to Edgar Allan Poe's poetry is not true
BabaBlast [244]
A=Edgar Poe didn't write "just anything" that would sell. If he did that, we probably wouldn't have ever heard of him for several reasons which are ultimately unimporatant to this question.
B=He claimed his first love was poetry, and he considered himself a poet before a regular, ordinary writer, but given the way the choices are worded, I'd say that B is still, with this in consideration, not the answer.
C=Edgar Poe did fabricate his personal life one time, when he created a backstory for his alias Arthur Gordon Pym.
D=True, he did invent it before Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ripped off Poe's detective C. Auguste Dupin.
E=Edgar Allan Poe was never insane. He was not that kind of man. He was more philosophical and aristocratic. Although in his youth he had toyed with an alcohol vice, he overcame it in his later years. He is only (and falsely) known for an alcoholic past because after Poe died, Poe's editor, Rufus Griswald slandered Poe and re-wrote Poe's biography, altering history away from the truth. Edgar Poe was never the "madman-alcoholic" that some people wrongfully believe he was.

Identify the figure of speech: "He worked in a steaming pit of hell."
leva [86]

Answer:

Hyperbole

Explanation:

Hyperbole in the Greek language translates to ‘excess’. And that is what it does, it exaggerates. We use hyperboles to emphasize the importance or overstate something. This exaggerates claims and statements are never meant to be taken at their literal meaning. They are used to create a strong and lasting impression
