Read the excerpt from "Lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." The children live in communities surrounded by the grape fields t
koban [17]

This question is incomplete. Here is the complete question:

The children live in communities surrounded by the grape fields that employ their parents. The children come into contact with the poisons when they play outside, when they drink the water, and when they hug their parents returning from the fields. . . .

We have no choice, we must stop the plague of pesticides.

How do the examples in this passage best support Chavez's purpose?

A)They show the types of difficult labor that farm workers do so that people will stand up for them.

B)They show the hardships that farm workers experience so that people will act to protect them.

C)They show the harmful role that pesticides play in communities so that people will try to improve them.

D) They show how the dangers of pesticides are spread so that people will work to get rid of them.

Answer:

The correct answer is option D) They show how the dangers of pesticides are spread so that people will work to get rid of them.

Explanation:

This excerpt tries to show how dangerous pesticides are and that they have to get rid of that pest as soon as possible.

As people work in the grape fields, communities form around them. They are inhabited by children who are in constant danger since they have pesticides on everything around them. On the water, on their parents, on the air they breathe.

This is something that must be stopped immediately, and so we can say that the correct answer is option D.

Who is the first human in the world?
Ivenika [448]

Answer:

Adam (religiously)

or Lucy (scientifically; there wasn't really a first human, but if you had to come up with someone, this is what might be considered correct, as it is the earliest remains)

Explanation:

religiously [Judaism/Christianity], the first person is believed to be Adam, created by G*d.

scientifically (based on fossil records and theories of evolution), there was no first "human", or, at least, not in the way you're thinking of.

people, like all other organisms, have evolved from a very distant ancestor. This is called a common ancestor, and it is theorized to be shared by all organisms/life on earth [not the same as plants]. However, this ancestor is not even remotely human, it was likely no more than a worm-like creature.

Over time, different versions of this animal started evolving, and eventually, a species (which began to resemble humans as we see them now). Early Australopithecus would probably be the first "humans"--although, they were not really humans. These were in existence 1-5 million years ago. (This is when religion does not line up with science--we have fossil remains of Australopithecus, and they are not nearly what Adam is described as from a religious perspective, there is literally no possible way for a human to have been that evolved the same amount of time ago-

**This is why I believe that religious texts are theoretical, and were never written to be facts, they were stories that helped people understand morals. I am somewhat religious)

I digress. So, over time, these old distant versions of humans, that were really, really, different from humans evolved. This is why there is no first human, we evolved together.

One of the earliest recorded "humans" was Lucy, an Australopithecus. We don't believe her to be the first human scientifically, because there could be no first human--our existence is evolution, and there is no start to human history--it begins from a place that was not humans.

So, there was no first human, only the earliest recordings of one (which is what we often simplify to be the first human)

This question has two parts. First, answer part A. Then, answer part B. Part A: Which of these inferences about Alisha is suppor
Wittaler [7]

Answer:

A. Alisha was angry with her brother for criticizing her

Explanation:

This question is about the text "After the Fire", where we learn that Alisha's house has been completely destroyed by fire, requiring her parents to build a new home. Alishia was happy to have a different house and asked her parents to have a room just for her and it was not necessary to share it with her sister. Entretnaot, Alishia's older brother, criticized her for making demands on parents who already had enough concerns, instead of being grateful for the privilege of having a new home. Alishia did not like his brother's criticism and said that he thinks that way because he never had to share a room with anyone.
