Julissa is running a 10-kilometer race at a constant pace. After running for 18 minutes, she completes 2 kilometers. After runni

ng for 54 minutes, she completes 6 kilometers. Her trainer writes an equation letting t, the time in minutes, represent the independent variable and k, the number of kilometers, represent the dependent variable. Which equation can be used to represent k, the number of kilometers Julissa runs in t minutes? How does this work i cant really figure it out

For this case we have the following variables:
 t: number of minutes
 k: number of kilometers
 We have an equation of the form:
 k = r * t

 Where,
 r: proportionality constant
 To find r, we must replace a value of k and a value of t.
 We have then:
 2 = r * 18

 Clearing r we have:
 r = 2/18

 r = 1/9
 Substituting we have:
 k = (1/9) * t

 We checked for t = 54:
 k = (1/9) * 54

k = 6
 Therefore, the equation is correct.
 Answer:

An equation that can be used to represent k, the number of kilometers Julissa runs in t minutes is:
 k = (1/9) * t

The population of a city has been increasing by 2% annually. The sign shown is from the year 2000.
Serjik [45]

We have that the  <em>exponential growth function</em>  and  population be in 2020 is mathematically given as

  • y=325000e^{0.002t}
  • y=469925

From the question we are told

  • The population of a city has been increasing by 2% annually. The sign shown is from the year 2000.
  • Write an exponential growth <em>function</em> that represents the population t years after 2000.
  • What will the population be in 2020? Round your <em>answer</em> to the nearest thousand. The popu<em>l</em>ation will be about:

<h3>Population</h3>

a)

Generally the equation for the standard form of exponential  <em>function</em> is mathematically given as

y=325000e^{0.002t}

b)

With T =20

Hence

y=325000e^{0.002(20)}

  • y=469925

Factor the following expression using the GCF: 2dr – 4r.
Solnce55 [7]

Answer:

2r(d-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 2 and r are both factors of the monomials 2dr and -4

2. Put it as 2r and divide each monomial and put it into parentheses.

3. 2dr/2r is "d" while -4r/2r is -2 since the r cancels out

3. After your done dividing each term b your GCF multiply your GCF to whatever is in the parentheses. 2r: GCF  (d-2): Factors

2r(d-2)

What is three quarters of 28? How do you do the sum?
dem82 [27]
There are four parts to a quarter so you divide 28 by 4:
28/4=7
and then because you want to know three quarters you just times 7 by 3:
7x3=21
therefore three quarters of 28 is 21
