how would I start out this essay in the introduction paragraph? (Write a comparative essay in which you compare and contrast the

way Sonia Nazario presents similar ideas in a biography and an editorial. Support your comparison with well-chosen, relevant, and sufficient evidence from both texts. Apply MLA guidelines to properly cite the evidence used in your essay. Be sure your essay uses formal and objective language.)

For the introductory paragraph, you should start by introducing broad ideas about the subject at hand. In this particular case, it would be a good idea to provide some background information about Sonia Nazario and maybe a little bit of information about his biographies and editorials. Nothing in your introductory paragraph should compare or contrast the two at all...you should save this for your body paragraphs. Make sure your thesis statement is the very last sentence of your introductory paragraph...this is the most important thing when it comes to most English teachers.

Nataly [62]

This question seeks to challenge the student's understanding of the theme of the passage. Please see for information below.

What is a theme?

A theme is a dominant topic or principle that the author is communicating to the reader.

In a text, there can be one or more themes. It is left to the reader to attempt to discover what the theme of the text is saying.

Many times, the theme of a paragraph is found in the first sentence of such a paragraph or in it's conclusion.

It is to be noted that the excerpt is unavailable hence the general answer.
