Scott Joplin was a very popular and successful Ragtime songwriter in the 1800s. He was known as the "King of Ragtime" and composed 44 Ragtime pieces, as well as two ballets, and a Ragtime ballet. The other three artists were popular musicians in the 1950s and 1960s and did not record in the Ragtime era or style.

Why did the Suez Canal increase European interest in the Ottoman Empire?
stealth61 [152]
The correct answer is C:The canal went through Muslim-controlled waterways to Asia.

The suez canal was of extreme importance for trading with the East and the Ottomans controlled it. If it happened that Ottomans disliked someone, they could just ban them from going through the canal which would severely harm the economy of that other country. That's why it was in the best interest of everyone in Europe to stay on the Ottoman's good side.
