The southern economy remained largely agricultural mainly due to agriculture's importance to the colonies as a trade export (especially cotton, tobacco, and other cash crops).

Supply and demand. Everyone needs food and textiles (cotton). The south just happened to be the only place that could really support agriculture on a massive scale. Since the south’s main resource was its good weather and soil, it was agrarian from the beginning. Once the culture and infrastructure for farming was in place, there was really no reason to NOT have an agriculturally based economy.

Should the United States have done more to help European Jews during the 1930s? What could it have done?
igomit [66]

Answer:

There are some issues related to the U.S. response to the European Jews during the 1930s.

Explanation:

Jewish refugees during the war, seek to escape from persecution in Germany in the 1930s and from the Holocaust. The Immigration and Nationality Act had imposed extremely tight rules to immigration in America, and it was not loosened in the 1930s for Germans immigrants despite the awareness of the discrimination, mass imprisonment, and violence against Jews in Nazi Germany.

The second was the late response to the Holocaust when they refused to take military action to destroy the concentration camps and the railroad lines.

America could have helped European Jews by reducing immigration restrictions. Also, could have stopped the growing antisemitism in the country towards the Jews.

The east coast of present-day north america is a good example of a(n) ________ continental margin.
Ira Lisetskai [31]

The correct answer is - Passive.

The passive continental margins are transitional zones between the oceanic and continental crust, lithosphere, and it is not an active plate margin. This type of margins form from sedimentation over an ancient rift, which has now become a transitional lithosphere. This type of margins can be found further away from the ocean ridges, but also away from the active continental margins. The east coast of North America is a nice example of a passive continental margin. It has all the characteristics of it. It is made out of sediments, it is a transitional zone between continental and oceanic lithosphere, it is far away from the mid-ocean ridge from one side, and the active continental margins on the other side.
