United Nations is the organisation that was established on 24th October 1945. It replaced the league of Nations after the World War Two to prevent conflict among nation and find peaceful solutions to various global issues and achieve international cooperation.
At the time of its founding there were 51 member states and now there are 193. Member nations send diplomats to the headquarters to take decisions about global issues. Maintaining world peace, improving standard of living of the people and making world a better place are the goals of the UN. Its headquarters is located in New York City. It has five official languages.
