Turpentine exposed to the air can cause health problems as it is in the List of Hazardous Substances for health, because it is flammable. It can cause damage when inhaled and by passing through the skin.  May cause irritation and burn eyes. Breathing turpentine can cause lung, throat and nose irritation and produce a cough. It also causes headache, nausea, dizziness, confusion and pulse acceleration.
