What is a complex sentence?

The complete question is Read this extract and select all the complex sentences.

The thing I like least about the weekend is Sunday evening. It’s the furthest point away from Friday, but it’s also the closest point to yet another Monday morning. I’d give anything to win the lottery. It’d save me from yet another commute to work, battling through the honking traffic and stinking fumes. According to the Medical Gazette, fighting through the rush hour causes excess stress hormones to build up in your bloodstream. Over time, all that damage takes years off your life. For me, that’s yet another good reason to hit the snooze button and slide back under the duvet. It’s only Sunday morning after all!

A complex sentence is a group of phrases together that includes the subordinate clause that is made up of independent and dependent clauses. In the sentence, at least one dependent clause must be present.

Unlike the dependent clause, which must include a verb and a subject, an independent clause in a sentence can stand alone. In the following sentence:

The thing I like least about the weekend - Independent clause

is Sunday evening - dependent clause

the korean language and the effects of its honorifics system in advertising: deferential vs. informal speech as regulatory prime
NISA [10]

More formal language in online communication increases perceptions of speaker competence, according to research on discourse formality in marketing, but conversely, people are more likely to like and trust speakers who use informal language because they come across as friendlier and more approachable.

Formal language can affect consumer sentiments in cultures where it denotes honorific rank, such as Korean, because it affects the implied meaning of the communication.

How to explain the information?

The rich honorific system in Korean is one of the language's most distinguishing characteristics. Korean speakers are required to communicate at a level (deferential vs. casual) appropriate to the position of the intended audience.

Korean honorific system itself serves as a natural prime for regulatory orientation given that the context of deferential (informal) communication reflects the setting for a prevention (promotion) focus. As a result, advertisements written in an informal, deferential tone are more likely to be deemed appropriate for use with utilitarian (hedonistic) goods.

The three questions that you should always ask yourself when determining the reliability of a source are:
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer:

The sentence is correct.

Explanation:

In the academic world it is important to have explanations and results that are objectively taken out from reality by instruments and logical structures that follow the criteria of science. This is why there is a community of scientist that evaluate papers and books in order to examine if the authors are being serious and professional about their research.

But, not all people get the information straight from the academic literature, but from sites in the internet or outreach magazines that are meant to make science easy to understand but that are not always reliable for they sometimes invent explanations or teach theories and concepts wrongly.

For that reason it is important to make sure that when you are reading something you ask the next three questions:

1) Who wrote it? Who is the author? Is the author a scientist?

When the author signs his or her work means that he can be traceable, and also that you can get to know which academic institution supports his or her research, which allow to recognize if the author and institution follow the rules of science (without looking at the content yet).

2) What type of site is it? Is the site intended to be based on science and truth?

When you enter a site in the internet or see and article in a magazine, you have to acknowledge the intention of the whole brand, in order to know if they based their words on science or if they have some tendency, or even if they just publish things that sound interesting but are not proven.

3) How current is the information? Is the information from the last 5 years?

Once you chose the publication you are interested in reading or watching, you have to know the time in which it was written, in order to know if it is an actual founding or if it is an historical publication. Some things in science change quite fast, therefore it is important to know if the information you are reading is current.

Knowing these three things will allow you to know if a publication is reliable even when you haven't read it yet. Therefore the sentence it is correct.
