In Grendel, what poetic device is used in the phrase "ragged little bands that roamed the forest on foot''?
dsp73
The correct answer should be alliteration.

Alliteration is repeating the same sound or cluster of sounds in consecutive words and here you have "ragged" and "roamed" and "forest" and "foot", repeating sounds R and F.

Helllo,
Sphinxa [80]

Answer:

The “American Dream” has been a recurring theme in President Trump’s rhetoric. He invoked it in announcing his bid for the presidency, saying, “Sadly, the American Dream is dead. But if I get elected president, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before and we will make America great again.” He celebrated its return in a speech in February to the Conservative Political Action Conference, saying, “The American Dream is back bigger, better and stronger than ever before.”

And recently, he has invoked it in his law-and-order-focused tweets, saying: “Suburban voters are pouring into the Republican Party because of the violence in Democrat run cities and states. If Biden gets in, this violence is ‘coming to the Suburbs’, and FAST. You could say goodbye to your American Dream!”

Of course, the American Dream is part of the political discourse for both the left and the right. Richard Nixon invoked the American Dream in accepting the Republican presidential nomination in 1968. Democrat Jimmy Carter mentioned it in his inaugural address in 1977. Ronald Reagan invoked it in his 1980s prime-time addresses to the nation. Barack Obama embraced it in his book “The Audacity of Hope.”

Which statement best expresses the opposite perspective of the author of this passage ? A) The problem of pollution has been vas
Delvig [45]

Answer:

A) The problem of pollution has been vastly overstated and is likely to decrease over time.

Explanation:

The author of the given passage expresses his concern about the effects pollution has on us and our environment. He tells us about how it occurs and how damaging it is, mentioning phenomena such as acid rain. He also tells us about how we can reduce pollution - by driving bicycles instead of cars, recycling, etc.

The statement that best expresses the perspective opposite of this one is statement A. The author doesn't think that the problem of pollution is overstated and that it's likely to decrease over time. He is concerned and wants us to know that we must do something to contribute to the reduction of pollution. The rest of the statements only confirm what he is saying.
