Answer:

The state in which women first received full suffrage was Wyoming.

Explanation:

Wyoming approved the right to vote for women on December 10, 1869, being one of the first territories in the world to do so and the first in which this right has been maintained continuously.

Since the 1820s, women had obtained the limited right to vote in some states. New Jersey maintained this right until it was eliminated by the state constitution of 1844.

The idea of voting for women had had strong support in the Republican Party before the Civil War, but after that the Republicans had put more emphasis on the rights of former slaves and put aside women's rights, some of which they felt betrayed by it.

The territories of the West had shown a propensity to facilitate the female vote. In 1854, the legislature of the Territory of Washington unsuccessfully tried to approve it, as it also happened in Nebraska in 1856 and in Dakota in early 1869. In the federal Congress, a senator presented after the war a proposal that would have given the vote to all women of the territories, although it was not approved. Nor did a proposed amendment to the Constitution that would have given the vote to all women in the states and territories in 1868. After Wyoming, the Utah Territory adopted women's suffrage in February 1870.
