I have found only what are two words to describe the short story. They are expectations and motivation. Expectation because the narrator speaks of the pressure to make something of himself when he was a child. His mom demanded that he do more than sit in front of the television and prepare to make something of his life.

Motivation is kind of like gumption which is a theme of the story. The author explores what this means within the context of his life.

The main idea of the memoir "No Gumption", is that motivation is kind of like gumption which is also the theme of the story. The author explores what this means within the context of his life. His mother motivates him for everything he does and tells the main character not to give up in any chance saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." This quote creates the main idea of the whole passage. The reason why is because that quote is a huge motivation for the author. As well as when she said, "Buddy, maybe you could be a writer." That is also an encouragement which all goes back and connects with the main idea and theme! (NEVER GIVE UP).

*HELP*

Can someone explain to me what the answer is, and why?
blsea [12.9K]
Well, I think it's a bit of a joke. Let us just say that if your going to feel shame, it must be because you are doing something a little indecent.

The pine never sheds its needles. It is always modest and chaste. The oak on the other hand sheds its leaves. That's as much as I can say. This site is rated family, not pg 13.
