Many people were persecuted, publicly humiliated, forcibly moved, killed and tortured as Mao Zedong used systematic terror to enforce his ideas on the Chinese people. The Great Leap Forward was when he wanted to change China's industrial economy into an agrarian one which heavily damaged it's economy and the Cultural Revolution was when he wanted to purge China of capitalist and traditional elements, which damaged the country socially and economically.

The correct answer is B. Because background checks are done by voters to verify the character of the candidates.

Explanation

When a candidate is aspiring to a public administration position in politics such as the presidency, the senate or similar, it is of great importance that they expose their background because it will allow voters to know the experience of this candidate to perform adequately in the position to which you are aspiring. On the other hand, this is important since voters will know if the candidate has committed prohibited acts such as corruption. Therefore, the correct answer is B. Because background checks are carried out by voters to verify the character of the candidates.
