Roosevelt was talking about 4 freedoms: of expression, of religion,from want and from fear. The objective was to give hope to the citizens by saying that his intention was to form a society without fear. Obama was talking to people who was afraid of terrorism and he gives support to freedom from fear of any attack, recognizing that many had the fear inside. So the idea has not change
