Jk is a 21 year old male who presents to the urgent care clinic on june 22 with a puncture wound in his left foot after stepping

on a screw when he walked outside of his dorm in just his socks to get a book he had left in his car. he said he remembered getting a tetanus shot at age 14 (it made his arm very sore), but has only gotten a flu shot every year since then. which of these vaccines would be an appropriate selection to administer at this time

The vaccine that may be administered to him at 14 years old is a dose of tetanus toxoid as this can present as pain from injection site. Since there is nothing said about the number of doses that he received, the patient should receive Tdap (tetanus, diphteria, and acellular pertussis) as stated from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention guideline for tetanus.
