The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Hijra a turning point in Islam in that it was in the city of Medina where Muhammad realized that there were many people that accepted him as the messenger of God. People there decided to convert to Islam and follow its precepts.

Hijrah is the pilgrimage that the Prophet Muhammad did from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE when he was escaping persecution. This date is identified by Muslim people as the beginning of the Muslim period. Muslim people have to follow five important pillars of Islam that are the Shahada or the profession of faith, Salat or daily prayers, Zakat or sharing with the ones in need, Saum that is fasting during the period of Ramadan, and Hajj that is the pilgrimage to Mecca at least one time.

Which contributed significantly to John F. Kennedy's election to the presidency? (Points : 3) a weak opponent his experience as
Archy [21]

The right answer is  televised debates.

The 1960 election elevated the role of images over substance. Both campaigns hired sophisticated marketing specialists to shape the media coverage of the candidates. Television played a crucial role. During the first of four debates, few significant policy differences surfaced, allowing viewers to shape their opinions more on matters of appearance and style. Some 70 million people watched this first-ever televised debate. They saw an obviously uncomfortable Nixon, still weak from a recent illness, perspiring heavily and looking pale, haggard, uneasy, and even sinister before the camera. Kennedy, on the other hand, appeared tanned and calm, projected a cool poise, and offered crisp answers that made him seem equal, if not superior, in his fitness for the nation’s highest office. Kennedy’s popularity immediately shot up in the polls.

Introduction: Match the ideas with the correct Enlightenment philosopher
yulyashka [42]

Answer:

1.Rousseau A.Belief in democracy, B.Checks and balances

2.Voltaire  C. Separation of church, state D. Freedom of religion

3.Montesquieu E. separation of powers

Explanation: Voltaire was a Christian and thought that everyone had a right to religious freedom. He was not very supportive of the Bible and was vigorously against the Catholic Church – The Church were gaining from being involved in politics by pocketing a religious tax, which is why Voltaire thought they had no place in politics.

In 1762, Rousseau published his most important work on political theory, The Social Contract.  Rousseau argued that the general will of the people could not be decided by elected representatives. He believed in a direct democracy in which everyone voted to express the general will and to make the laws of the land.

Montesquieu concluded that the best form of government was one in which the legislative, executive, and judicial powers were separate and kept each other in check to prevent any branch from becoming too powerful. He believed that uniting these powers, as in the monarchy of Louis XIV, would lead to despotism.
