Which words or phrases in this excerpt from Kurt Vonnegut's “Report on the Barnhouse Effect” portray Professor Barnhouse as an e

xceptional person?
There is an understandable tendency to look upon Professor Barnhouse as {a supernatural visitation.} The First Church of Barnhouse in Los Angeles has a congregation numbering in the thousands. He is {godlike} in neither appearance nor intellect. The man who disarms the world is {single}, {shorter than the average American male},{stout} and {averse to exercise}. His I.Q. is 143, which is good but certainly {not sensational}. He is quite {mortal}, about to celebrate his fortieth birthday, and in good health.

He isn't really commented on as an exceptional person but, " There is an understandable tendency to look upon Professor Barnhouse as {a supernatural visitation}, and " The first Church of Barnhouse in Los Angeles has a congregation numbering in the thousands." Seems to me like good choices.

Once you start your research, you are locked into that question. True or false
yarga [219]
False

It really depends on what stage you are within your research and how far away your deadline is. If you have just started your research, then you are not locked in just yet, because you (presumably) still have a lot of time left. In fact it could help you figure out if your question was a good choice.

Verb Moods
JulijaS [17]
C) I could get bread and milk at the store if you give me some money.

Answer choice C is written in the conditional. Getting bread and milk at the store depends on whether or not the speaker is given money. The biggest indicator here of the conditional mood is the word "if".
The other option that has the word "if" is option D. However, it uses the verb wish and talks about bread and milk magically appearing. This is not likely to happen so it is written in the subjunctive mood.
