Tropical savanna is an ecosystem that contains tall grasslands, scattered trees and rolling hills. Tropical savannas are usually located between a desert and a tropical rainforest, and it can be found in India, Africa, South America and Australia. This ecosystem contains large tracts of tall grasses that grows usually between 3 to 6 feet tall, shrubs and various types of trees such as pine trees, palm trees and acacia savannas. Large and various animals (both carnivores and herbivores) such as Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, elephants, giraffes, jackals, warthogs and birds (such as hawks and eagles) can be found in the tropical savanna.
In general, the sun's rays are the most intense at the equator and the least intense at the poles. On an average yearly basis, areas north of the Arctic Circle receive only about 40 percent as much solar radiation as equatorial regions.
