For a hyperbola, the traverse axis, where it opens at, in this case horizontally or the x-axis, is the one that has the positive fraction, in this case then, it will be the fraction with the "x" variable in it.

check the picture below, you can pretty much see from the x-intercepts, what the vertices are, and thus what "a" is.

A box of cereal contains 23.4 ounces. It costs $5.49. What is the cost to the nearest cent of the cereal per ounce
cestrela7 [59]
So in a proportion 23.4 over 5.49 equals 1 over o and multiply 5.49•1=23.4o
5.49=23.4o divide by 23.4 on both sides and that equals 4.26 per oz

Can someone please help me with this question I don’t understand it
jonny [76]

Brand A: 32 Diapers, $8.99: about 28 cents per diaper

Brand B: 50 Diapers, $12.49: about 24 cents per diaper

You divide the amount of diapers by the money.

For example, 32 diapers/$8.99 equals about 28 cents per diaper and 50 diapers/$12.49 equals about 24 cents per diaper.

Brand B is the better deal since you save about 4 cents more.
