Viruses are collectively classified as "non-living"; unlike prokaryotic cells. This is because:
+ Viruses do not have a cellular organization.
-This means that they cannot perform metabolic activities without a host cell, unlike prokaryotes.
+ Viruses are approximately 50 times smaller than prokaryotes.
+ When taking into consideration genetic material, viruses can either have DNA or RNA, whereas prokaryotes have DNA as their genetic composition.
+ Viruses can proliferate and have the capability of affecting other microorganisms.

Which situation describes parasitism?
skad [1K]

Answer:

D. Ticks live on and drink blood from a cow.

This is an example of parasitism, where the ticks (parasite) are living off of the blood of the cow, the host animal.

Explanation:

Parasitism is a relationship between organisms. In this relationship, one organism (parasite) lives on or in another organism (host) and gains benefits from the host, causing it some harm.

Parasites are classified as ectoparasites, which live on the body surface of the host (ticks, fleas, leeches, and lice) and endoparasites, which live in the body of the host. Endoparasites are either intercellular, which live inside the host’s body (round worms, tapeworms) or intracellular, which live inside the cells in the host’s body (bacteria or viruses).

Parasites help to control dominant species and has a role in evolution by transferring genetic material between species.

Review the equations below used to describe photosynthesis and respiration (as provided in the background section of this experi
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

Germinated seeds without leaves are used in the experiment in order to find good results.

Explanation:

It is very important to use germinated seeds without the presence of leaves in order to carried out the experiment because if the leaves are present, the process of photosynthesis started which automatically increases the rate of respiration of the seed. This test is performed in order to determine the rate of respiration not photosynthesis. So leaves will not used in the experiment in order to avoid any problem with the results.

Discussion/Conclusion
NISA [10]

Answer:

Due to small in size.

Explanation:

Some organelles such as nucleus, mitochondria and Golgi bodies can't be seen because they are too small in size and near to the limit of the microscope. Organelles present in plant cell are nucleus, mitochondria and Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, one big vacuole, cell membrane and cell wall whereas organelles present in animal cell such as nucleus, mitochondria and Golgi bodies, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, lysosomes, several small vacuoles and cell membrane. In animal cell centriole and lysosomes are present and absent in plant cell while in plant cell, cell wall and one large vacuole present in the center of the nucleus and these organelles are absent in animal cell. Plant and animal cells are eukaryotic because they have organelles and surrounded by membrane.
