But those who ate this honeyed plant, the Lotus,
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

This honey plant makes the do things they don't want to do, makes them forget their primary purpose, forgetting their family and friends. They become addicted to this and nothing matters anymore.

Explanation:

The lines are from Homer's "The Odyssey" Book IX where Odysseus had sent some men to survey the land. But these men ended up staying back for they had partaken the Lotus plant and did not want to leave.

Paraphrase of the passage-

If the flower is drank by anyone, it made them forget everything and not leave the place. It makes them forget their families, their homes, their purpose. It also made them do things they don't want to do. It's like they are addicted to drugs or becoming a slave to bad practices. Bad for them but can't fully leave either. Taking them makes them do things they don't want to do, but have no control over.

makkiz [27]

Answer:

She wanted to to write children’s books since she started reading them.

Explanation:

She wrote her first novel when she was 10, and when no one wanted to publish it, she was sad for a little while but then just became more driven. She accomplished her goal in 2009, when her first two novels for 8-12 year-old's, Standing for Socks, and The Trouble with Mark Hopper, hit shelves.
