What do Iroquois myths suggest about their relationship with nature?
vovangra [49]

Much of the mythology of the Iroquois (a confederacy of originally Five, later Six Nations of Native Americans) has been preserved, including creation stories and some folktales. Recorded in wampum as recitations, written down later, the spellings of names differed as transliteration varies and spellings even in European languages were not entirely regularized. Different versions of some stories exist, reflecting different localities and different times. It is possible that the written versions were influenced by Christianity.

Each village had its own storyteller who was responsible for learning all the stories by heart. No stories were ever told during the summer months. Violations would be punished by the Jo-ga-oh, and if the violator ignored the warning he would suffer greater evils.

I hope this helps idk if it will

Where do you see the influence of Don Quixote in today’s world
ad-work [718]

Answer:

Explanation:

The musical or the book?

I don't see much of him no matter what basis you use -- book or musical. Do you?

He flourished in a time when knights were bound by a code of honor and the results were not good if you broke that code of honor.  He had no intention of doing anything that was wrong. He was so high minded that Sancho Panza had to keep on reminding himself that the Don was either a great saint or an unholy fool and throughout the entire production of both he never really made up his mind. Don Quixote was far too remote, far too idealistic, far too much of a man seeking the world not as it was, but as he wanted it to be. Sancho could never bring himself to see the world that way. And yet, he stuck with him. If his understanding did not increase, his wonder did. The more he saw, the less he really knew, but that was only part of it. Every person must make up their own mind about Sancho. I've spent so much time on him because he is more like modern man. The difference is that he hung around to see if he could come to some understanding of the Don.

Dulcinia is a different person that both of them, but she sees more clearly who Don Quixote is and she tries to push him away but she's not fully successful. I'm a guy and in general, I like that kind of woman. She tried to see him through a different set of lenses. His code prevented him from doing anything about it. We modern people would show no such hesitancy. Dulcinia may give us what we want but she respects the Don. She will never forget him whereas in a year's time, she could not remember anything about the rest of us.

Why does Dexter suddenly see his winter dreams as an illusion?
Marizza181 [45]

Answer and Explanation:

These questions are about Dexter Green and Judy Jones from the short story "Winter Dreams", by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

When 14-year-old Dexter Green saw 10-year-old Judy Jones throwing a tantrum, he realized he wanted to be as rich as she was. For some reason, Judy's spoiled personality attracted Dexter, and she became the symbol of his ideal. Dexter romanticized life, all because of Judy. He thought beauty and wealth would bring him the happiness he imagined the beautiful and the wealthy to have. Even as adults, as he and Judy date, he does not realize her life is nothing like the golden ideal he has created. Judy is irritable and bored, toying with several men - including Dexter - just to have some fun.

Why does Dexter suddenly see his winter dreams as an illusion?

An older Dexter, who has indeed accomplished everything he wanted, finds out through a friend that Judy is now married to an awful husband. She is no longer admired for her beauty, and everyone seems to know she leads an unhappy life. This news makes Dexter realize his dreams were nothing but an illusion. Judy is as real as everything else. There is nothing glamorous about her anymore. And if Judy is unhappy and ordinary, the whole world is unhappy and ordinary.

Why can he no longer treasure even his memories of Judy Jones?

Since Judy is no longer the same, she can no longer represent what she once did. Dexter has also changed and, for that reason, cannot even look back at their memories together the same way. Remembering Judy used to give him strength, motivation to keep on pursuing his dreams. Now that the fantasy is shattered, there is no way of bringing back that feeling. Dexter simply doesn't care anymore:

<em>"Long ago," he said, "long ago, there was something in me, but now that thing is gone. Now that thing is gone, that thing is gone. I cannot cry. I cannot care. That thing will come back no more."</em>
